What is a Capsela?

The Capsela system is built around a series of interlocking capsules, each having a distinct mechanical or electrical function. The function of each type of capsule is explained below.

Motor Capsule  The power source to motorize all models activated by one or two AA batteries. Speed Reduction Capsule Reduces motor speed while increasing torque, or turning power. Crown Wheel Capsule Changes direction of motive drive through a 90 degree angle, and decreases the RPM ratio 2:1. Worm-Gear Capsule  Combines functions of speed reduction and crown wheel into a single unit.

Internal Gear Capsule Changes shaft speed (increases or decreases RPM ratio 3:1) without changing directions. Rotary Switch Capsule  As shaft turns, switch is opened and closed activating blinking light.  Clutch Capsule Designed to engage or disengage motor drive. Transmission Capsule Extends gear action without changing the connection gear force.
